the "ah ha" moment

hello 2903. i have to admit it took me a little while to motivate myself to read this weeks readings. along with a few others in the class, i too was a little frustrated and had a difficult time understanding last weeks text. there was a lot of information, names and ideas, that just seemed to be coming at me full speed ahead and i was unsuccessful in grasping the information. however, i am so so so so happy to say the "ah ha" moment occurred once i read the first chapter of Literary Theory A Guide for the Perplexed. everything started to make sense and i was even more relieved when i was reassured by the chapter that being perplexed, and frustrated is very common when starting learn about literary theory. i was excited and once again relieved as i sat in Dr. Pounds class today (although extremely tired) and understood precisely what he was saying:) i have a feeling that this guide is going to become a new close companion of mine as i continue through this journey...

today Dr. Pound asked the question... who reads literature? the first thing that came to my mind was... well everyone does of course. literature seems to be everywhere (we have even discussed this in class) and therefore i assumed that everyone does... i have never really taken into consideration that those with less money, who may have never been read to as children, or who don't necessarily have the time, have the possibly of loosing out on literature and all that it has to offer. for this reason i am glad that today literature is easily accessible in many ways shapes and forms for those who are interested and or have a desire to learn, explore, create, imagine etc.... imagine life without literature ...yikes!
